More Than Gold

I might not live the most exciting life

There aint no rivers, waterfalls or mountains in my sight

My house has a small garden and a wall beside the street

Where only strips of grass bring colour to the dominant concrete

I might not lead the most exciting life

But I sure know what's important and I still know what is right

And the arrow in my moral compass always points the way

And it helps to keep distractions and the barking dogs at bay

But what I have, I treasure like the gold

That the pirates used to bury in locked chests so long ago

What I have is worth much more than gold
