I hit another milestone again

I finally got my 20 years in

So stop asking me if I’m retiring

When they gave me that promotion to E-8

It was already too late to drop my appendix J

But it all started when I was 19

When I took my ASVAB with the U.S. Army

But spontaneously ironically ended up in the U-S-M-C

Okay, I could have ended up a dope fiend

But before Y2K, Instead

I became U.S. Marine I was yellow-green

Got on a plane headed to San Diego

Got off that plane hung out the U-S-O

Got on that bus people at the airport

Like the poolees looked just as nervous as us

Got off that bus shoving the hats started

Screaming at us fussing and cussing

And then they told us to run but when we got up

We spazzed sprinted and started rushing

They told us to stand on the yellow footprints

Shut it then taught us the position of attention

They directed us to call home got a forever ringtone

So I hung up the phone

Back then I was like fuck my life damn

Emptied contraband from my pockets

Also, in my head i was like what the fuck did I just do man

I was recruited into the delayed entry program

September 24, 1998 at Pearl Harbor

I left for recruit training February 21, 1999

Assigned to Platoon 1045

Bravo Company 1st Battalion

Black Boots tri-colored cammies

Uniform, ironed-on logos

But today’s the era of net-gens and later millennials

Pride and discipline was so long ago

We getting way too lenient on formation no-shows

Most of them Staff N-C-O-S

I guess they wont find out who’s on the hit-list for medical and dental

But they wonder why our youths are feeling so fucking very entitled

Don’t know shit about being humble

Don’t see worth anything working hard for

Even with high school diplomas their English pitiful

I wish it was an illusion that shit is painful

I hope they find a solution

I love you all, but in conclusion

Never place me in a position for me to choose between you and the institution

Stop being part of the organization’s pollution be more of that person with all the contribution

They need direction mentorship and leadership

In other words, stop being a piece of shit
