Orbit

Every year is getting shorter, they all seem to come and go

No I don't mean to sound ungrateful, every one's a milestone

And I'm counting all the crow's feet like the rings inside a tree

Oh how I used to be embarrassed, but they've kind of grown on me

I will have one more go around the sun

So I can mark another orbit, add a tally to the wall

Have a cause for celebration, as if I needed one at all

And may every new rotation be a cut above the last

But you can't predict the future, and the past is in the past
