rotten fruit

We planted a tree out in the garden last spring

Wanted it to grow into a mighty oak, we just have to water the seeds

I was so glad, I couldn't wait to see what it would be

And you were happy to, we don't have anything to lose

But then the clouds came, at least we'd be getting some rain

But it never rained, and it'd just be cloudy every single day

And that's when I saw something change inside of you

I think you knew, that all we'd get was rotten fruit

I remember I called you when the tree first started to sprout

But you never came out

I guess you were just happier inside
