In my suit in Eston Square I never really fit in there

The 'Gilly' stole five years off me, and crushed our creativity

In my school there was a deal ICI or British Steel

Well the year I left there came no call my life was moulded 'down the wall'

And I saw Wincey Willis signing autographs at Hintons

Just about the time I realised that we were different

I almost had it all but I threw it all away

I struggled half my life to make it right

If my mind could stretch so far, it was Hamiltons or Ossies Bar

The things we did in violent days, the bands we watched, the friends we made

I channelled all my angered youth, from the dole queue to my chosen truth
