So the other day I'm at the beach with my family

I'm there with my wife and 2 kids

And it's 72 degrees and sunny in November which is unheard of in Connecticut

And instead of just being fully present and embracing and appreciating that moment

That gift that I was being given

I found myself looking at my situation through a lens of dread

I started thinking about the uncertainty of our future

And I started getting really sad

I started thinking like man it's not always gonna be like this

Me and my wife not doing so good

Man what if I don't have my family anymore

What if I don't have these memories

And I threw on a beat and I started writing baby dont cry

Which is probably the saddest song on this whole album

And I got like right towards the end of the song and then something shifted in me

And something just told me like what are you doing

First of all it's not always gonna be like this no matter what

Kids grow up moments are moments they're precious

And you need to cherish them and even if things aren't gonna work out

That's all the more reason to present in this moment

And to be grateful for this moment

And to savor this moment

And to say God thank you for this moment

And then I threw on another beat

I shifted gears I shifted my focus

I started looking at my situation through a lens of gratitude

And I began writing probably the most joy filled song on this album

Which was sunset by the beach

And I just started feeling so good

I was radiating a totally different energy

And I was just feeling blessed

And the craziest thing about this entire situation is

The circumstance didn't change

I just shifted my focus
