Lyrics
Daddy played this Guitar for us
Back when we were just kids
Neil diamond and Elvis were some
Of the songs on his list
Mama taught us the words
We sang we danced
While he picked
Sittin in that living room
How we loved all those old hits
On this Guitar
Yeah it looks rough and a little battered
But that don't seem to matter
The songs still sound the same
And this guitar
It may seem like we need a new one
A little shinier without the peg hum
Or the bridge bulge it's ok
This guitar has seen our family
Through the tough stuff
Brought us smiles and tears
And big hugs
I guess that's why it stays
By the fire place on the wall
Will always be the space
For this guitar
Now a Martin or a Fender
You may think you need,
Maybe it's a Gibson
Or a nice little Takamine
I don't care what anyone says
They can't hold a pick
To this old Ibanez
That guitar still hangs on the wall
To this very day.
Every time I come back home
I grab that old guitar play
So now we dust it off, tune it up
To share with kids of our own
Though he may be missing his Lessons carry on in this guitar.
Yeah it looks rough and a little battered
But that don't seem to matter
The songs still sound the same
And this guitar
It may seem like we need a new one
A little shinier without the peg hum
Or the bridge bulge it's ok
This guitar has seen our family
Through the tough stuff
Brought us smiles and tears
And big hugs
I guess that's why it stays
By the fireplace, on the wall, will
always be the space,
Every time I come home
I'll look at that place
And this guitar
