In my quest and my search for God

I found something that struck me as rather odd

I was looking for the fire, the bright light, the blaze of glory

You've heard the stories, we've been taught the lessons

Here I am looking for signs but missing the signs

To make the ultimate sacrifice

But if we're all here to follow Christ

Then we all need to model His life

Cuz there are no desperados in Christ and there's no need to hobble through life

When you've got all this family in the Body of Christ

Now we all talk about seeking the face of the Lord

But that don't always mean we need to put our face to the floor

I've been confessing, professing how I walk in His light

But all along I'm neglecting the Body of Christ

Something's wrong, am I really in the will of God

If I won't let you feel my heart

If my steel façade won't allow me to reveal my scars

Or if I don't want to deal with yours, Lord help me

See we all got different complexions,

Different backgrounds, we all got different perspectives

And we all came from different directions

But we're all looking forward to the same resurrection

And we're all walking toward the same state of perfection

We all have the same Father God, it's the same connection

Same Spirit living in us, working through us

Whether you're white, black, yellow, or Jewish, come on

Cuz we are the Body of Christ

And we've all been called by the Giver of Life

My real one locked away, he'll be gone 20 years

Is anyone in need of a son, or a brother

Is to show humanity the love in His family
