Born in Oakland, California, TMG FRE$H was raised in a close-knit, service-oriented family. His activist parents imparted their two sons with a diverse musical base ranging from the distinctive jazz sounds of Louis Armstrong to the unapologetic messages of Tupac Shakur and Public Enemy. “They were always listening to music,” he recalls fondly. “And fighting for justice.”
The multitalented wordsmith began cultivating his longstanding passion for storytelling in 2014. Inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s films, he taught himself how to write scripts, which led him to explore his musical voice. “I first tried rapping as character development, he reveals. “That’s how I learned bars, hooks and an overall understanding of song structure.”
The lead single, “Anybody,” is a relatable portrayal of the often complicated nature of love. Since its release, the song has over a million collective listens across major streaming and social media platforms.
