Born June 2003 in the city of Lagos in Nigeria, Vivian Chidinma Desmond, professionally known as VHENÉ is an emerging afrofusion singer & songwriter with a sultry voice and a versatile pen.
At the young age of 9, she spent significant time helping at her older sister’s bar to raise money for her family. It was at this point she got consistently exposed to sounds like Afrobeats, Highlife, Fuji, Apala and other beautiful West African genres typically played at African bars and restaurants popularly referred to as “beer parlors”.
With the emergence of contemporary Nigerian superstars like Wizkid, she fell even deeper in love with music and started exploring her own love for song writing.
More recently being influenced by Nigerian Afrofusion Superstars like Burna Boy and Fireboy DML, along with global superstars like Beyoncé and SZA, VHENÉ’s music explores themes like pain, nostalgia, romance, family and rebellion....more
