Kimono Drag Queens are a psychedelic/world music seven piece with musical influences spanning continents, genres and flavours. With a focus on rhythm heavy walls of sound, they’ve formed a style that blends elements of psych rock, Tuareg music, 60’s pop and noirish lyricism that fails to draw comparison.
Formed in late 2016, the band have been slowly releasing singles and playing shows up and down the East Coast. Their most recent single ‘Acid Reign’ further branches out into weird territory with an accompanying video that reflects the darker sides of love and possession explored in the lyrics.
Taking a break at the start of 2018 to while members travelled overseas, the band are now back and focussing on recording, with two EP’s nearly completed out of the group’s ever swelling catalogue of unreleased jams.
