With 2020 as a backdrop while looking to the future, singer-songwriter Colin Smith delivers a much-needed anthem for inner peace with his new single, “Is It Ever Now.”
The single is a continuation of a long, colorful musical journey from Dublin-born Smith. His trajectory began as the singer for Irish alternative band MrNorth and has included engagements with some of the biggest names in live music: Alicia Keys; Christina Aguilera, who featured Smith as her duet partner on her hit “Say Something” on tours across the world; additionally on tours opening for The Who, Van Halen, Sheryl Crow and appearing on Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo stages. Most recently, Smith ventured into trance music with a featured vocal on “Hurricane Love,” the evocative new track by Finnish DJ duo Super8 & Tab. In Film and TV, his songs feature in “The Lincoln Lawyer”, and BBC’s “Being Human”.
‘Is It Ever Now’ a chill, romantic affair, at turns electronic and acoustic. “The song is fresh musical territory for me,” Smith explains. “This time, the lyric wasn’t from the front lines of heartbreak, but watching what happens when we live in the past, and how we keep memories alive as if they were characters in real time. But the past was then, and our re-animations of essentially 2D things creates a whole other thing that isn’t based in reality.
“So when I ask ‘Is It Ever Now,’” he continues, “I’m looking for the peace that comes with being awake and not losing energy to nostalgia or future projections."...more
