Spanning everything from the mellow afrobeats of “Problems” to the acoustic, stripped-back “Ex Message”, to, you will either move, or be moved, by Kaandace Cooper. Her voice is an RnB powerhouse, easily rubbing shoulders with a dynasty of female artists like H.E.R and Jhene Aiko, who can take command of a song and leave an indelible memory. “This EP is about love and life, hearts and heartbreaks,” she explains. “It’s about how love sometimes rejects us without warning. This EP is dedicated to those in love, and those struggling to love. Broken walls shall be rebuilt.” “I Like It” calls on the talents of Liberian rapper JSB of “Good Time Lib” fame, and on the smooth “Mamacita”, she creates heavenly harmonies with Baddgal Aira. Forerunning single “Answer Me”, with its sun-kissed rhythms, entered the Top 30 Apple Music Chart in Liberia, with hundreds of videos featuring her song on TikTok, riding the airwaves on Capital FM. Written with her manager Jonathan S. Baker, Kaandace Cooper shares that the inspiration for the track was rooted in personal experience: “It’s about how we girls sometimes have a crush on a guy so badly we start to ask ourselves if he’s really the one.”
