In the year 1998, Ja’ Piny together with a colleague under the name of KABILI CLAN released a song going by the name of Bomblast which was a song reflecting on the events that occurred during the fateful August, 1998 twin bombing of Kenya and Tanzania. In the year 2003, the group (Kabili Clan) broke due to pursue other interests and this is when Ja’Piny met Teddy Kalanda of THEM MUSHROOMS who gave him a chance to work within their studio to record his album. Teddy Kalanda a household name in Afro-Fusion music, taught Ja’Piny how to approach music the Afro way and since then the artists style has always been Afro-Fusion oriented. Afro-fusion music is advantageous as it speaks of events, traditions and cultures that people can relate with and learn from.
