Naomisia J. Mchaki, also known by her stage name “Naomisia” is pure raw talent, hailing from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Her passion for music was always visible to those that watched her grow up and as she grew older it became influenced by many different genres and artists including Lady Jay Dee, Barnaba and Vanessa Mdee.
Why the name Naomisia? Drake once said, “I'm authentic, real name, no gimmicks, no game, no scrimmage”. When she was born, Naomisia's mother wanted to name her Naomi. Her dad on the other hand wanted to name her Sia. In the wise words of Michael Dapaah, “2 plus 2 is 4 minus 1 that's 3, quick math”, and so they named her Naomisia.
Similar to how her name is a balance between two, her ability to seamlessly switch between Swahili and English is sought after and works to further separate her from the crowd....more
