1Gen is a creative project that represents a fusion of afrobeat, R&B, pop, and hip-hop that gives a fresh take on today’s diaspora and the new Afro sound. Based in the U.S., Ghanaian-American producer/songwriter Kwaamih taps into this wide range of influences both instrumentally and personally. Coming from a background of playing gospel music, he began writing and producing both secular and spiritual music in high school to try and illustrate the push and pull of balancing the two. 1Gen is a creative project that represents a fusion of afrobeat, R&B, pop, and hip-hop that gives a fresh take on today’s diaspora and the new Afro sound. Based in the U.S., Ghanaian-American producer/songwriter Kwaamih taps into this wide range of influences both instrumentally and personally. Coming from a background of playing gospel music, he began writing and producing both secular and spiritual music in high school to try and illustrate the push and pull of balancing the two. Over time, all of his influences bleed together to create a genre-bending experience that connects very different experiences and stories in realistic yet unique musical creations.
