Sri Lankan/Australian singer Dhee is one of the most inimitable talents in South India. Unfettered by expectations and traditions, Dhee has become one of India’s most distinctive voices with hits like ‘Rowdy Baby’ – recognised as one of the most-viewed Indian videos of all time with over a billion hits on YouTube.
Born in Colombo to Carnatic musician and singer Meenakshi Iyer, Dhee grew up in Sydney with sounds of music all around her. At home, she spent time watching her paati (grandmother) and mother as they taught Carnatic music, and with friends, Dhee fell in love with the swag of hip-hop and sway of jazz. A confident singer and performer, Dhee is currently working on her maiden album.
