Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Jai developed an appreciation for the Arts at a very young age. Her Mother would play old school R & B records at home all the time, unknowingly predetermining Jai's future dancing gigs with the legendary Aretha Franklin and Charlie Wilson. At the age of 14, Jai flew to Los Angeles to compete in a national talent competition. With her first win under her belt, she was “bit by the bug”, and immediately her and her mother moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment.
Jai's breakout performances were in January and August of 2012 on BET's 106 & Park "Wild Out Wednesdays" talent competition. Winning both times to a standing ovation, she snagged the coveted "ALL STAR FEMALE HIP HOP/R & B" title. That same year, she won "Best Female R & B Artist” for her vocal performance of her songs “Disconnected” and “Break Stuff” at The Indie Music Channel Awards in Los Angeles.
Jai is currently recording and writing music for her anticipated EP entitled ‘’Gemini’’. Her debut single “How Long (Betcha Gotta Chic On The Side), a cover originally performed by The Pointer Sisters, was produced by multi-Grammy award winning producer Michael J. Powell and co-produced by Cordell Walton. “How Long” is set to be released in February 2018. When she’s not in the booth or appearing live, you can see her all over the world backup dancing for Charlie Wilson in arenas and on television appearing on shows like “The Talk” and “Live with Kelly and Ryan"...more
