Mufi Hermann Vesoh (born 26 November 1995), known professionally as Uncle London is a Cameroonian Drill Rapper and Songwriter. He got into entertainment in secondary school during his study at Baptist High School Buea and Bishop Rogan College. Back then he would perform street songs and street dances like “Lata Lata”. He also got involved with acting and did short plays during his school socials. In 2014, he began recording music professionally but was uncertain about fully committing to it since he was studying at the prestigious University of Buea.During his school days, Uncle London, previously only known as Mufi Hermann dropped a couple of tunes in 2016 and 2017. It was not until the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown that he revisited his past and found out that music was truly his calling and the name Uncle London was introduced to the public in 2020. Uncle London realized it had always been his desire to put a Cameroon map on the drill Scene(a fast growing rap music sub-genre that originated in the streets of Chicago in the late 2000’s and was borrowed heavily by the UK). The genre is well known for its hedonistic criminal lifestyles. Artists within the genre have been noted for their style of lyricism and association with crime. Uncle London is a Human Rights Activist who believes in dark poetry and freedom of speech in his Country. Lack of free speech is a major problem facing many African Countries. He raps mostly about the motivational, influential, sexual, and criminal lifestyles activities in his country using a mix of UK drill and franc-Anglais (a heavily used local language in Cameroon also known as Pidgin ) to communicate his message.Uncle London thinks his music style was influenced by Buea and Douala, his hometowns. On the 8th of April 2021, Uncle London released his first ever drill song titled “021 Ready” which was well received by the growing number of people who had started gaining interest in Drill music in Cameroon. The song faced criticism for its lyrical controversy. Uncle London later on released his 2nd drill single “4Skengs” in the same year which solidified his presence in the Cameroon Drill Scene. He went on to release another drill Anthem in 2022 “Les Lions Ont Gagné”, a melodic Afro-Drill song which celebrates the patriotic nature of Cameroonians through football. Caneroon is well known to for its football legends like Roger Milla, Samuel Eto’o, and many more. Uncle London has collaborated with several Cameroonian rappers pushing the Cameroonian Drill scene into international ears. He believes knowledge is power and is always glad to serve his fast growing fan base with his work of art. Uncle London is yet to drop a mixtape or an album. But this is seemingly to be in the pipeline according to the artist. Uncle London is currently an artist under the “University of Machine Boys” Record Label and is one of the pioneers of Cameroon Drill. He is also an active member in the Drill Scene ....more
