Vanden Dool

Born and raised in Lethbridge Alberta, Ty Vanden Dool has had an enthusiasm for music since before he first learned to play the clarinet in grade 6. He has since joined many ensembles, first with school concert and jazz bands up until grade 12, followed immediately by the Lethbridge Community Gold Band in every year since as well as a year of participating in Global Drums.
Ty enrolled in the University of Lethbridge music program in 2013 and finishing in 2017, majoring in Digital Audio Arts and learning skills and techniques from classical music writing to studio-based production. He also became a volunteer for campus radio CKXU 88.3 FM, where he currently hosts The View from Here, Keys & Reverb and The National Top 10.
Using his last name as a stage name, Vanden Dool recorded his first song at one of the university's recording studios with some friends early in 2014. This was the beginning of over 60 original recordings, which were released online.
Since then, Vanden Dool has played several shows in his hometown as well as making an appearance at Smoky Lake's Reign Bough Fiddle in 2018. Artists he has shared the stage with include Biloxi Parish, The Fox Who Slept the Day Away, Hello Moth, Jon Martin, Kane Incognito, King of Foxes, Max Hopkins, Psychic Pollution and Too Soon Monsoon. Recently, all recordings were removed from his accounts to start over fresh for his self-titled debut album, set to release in the spring.
