Late 2018, Kokar - a rapper, singer, songwriter — emerged from Deptford (Lewisham Borough of London) with the critically acclaimed “For Me” as a debut single, which has been followed by prominent singles such as Coulda Been and Lessons (an origin story), all available on streaming platforms.
Of Nigerian Heritage, Kokar made his mark on the U.K. music scene with his distinctive blend of Dancehall, Grime & Afroswing all influenced by genres such as Afrobeats, HipHop, R&B & Soul.
Tobi Coker who was born and raised in Deptford by a single mother signed a professional contract with Barnet football club at 18, chose to pursue a career in music instead in order to retain his ability to be expressive without having to change his chore characteristics.
