Growing up in New Haven, CT, Ashon Alston was introduced to Rap music by his mother. In his teens he used rapping as a way to cope with his daily struggles, amongst other themes of family life, friendship, the world around him. Rap was no longer a hobby, but his language and way of life. Along with two friends from school the rap group, Above Suspicion, was formed. Most days, and nights, were spent writing and recording new music in the studio. They were soon signed to Crunch Time, an independent label out of Hartford, CT.
The trio released Inhale The Poison, a part of the label’s first release, Caught on Tape Compilation Album. Over time the group started moving in a different direction and Ashon decided to go solo. In 2007 he met producer and engineer Aaron Moynihan, a fellow CT native and Berklee College of Music alumni. For the past decade, the two have been solidifying their sound.
