Joel Smith PKA "Chekx" was born on April the 10th, 1989 at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. Chekx currently resides in New York is where the music business strives, as New York City is the center of the music industry. In 2015 Chekx moved to New York at the age of 26 to welcome his son Joel Smith Jr. who was born on the 17th of May 2017. He is now a legal U.S citizen and resides in Queens county in New York.
He started doing music to speak about what he has seen and experienced and also to express himself about how he feels regarding ongoing situations in society. According to Chekx “Music is life. If I stop doing music then I stop living.” Before he decided to do a career in music.
