Referred to as "the Drumboss" by his fans, Heavy K is a South African DJ and producer who rose to prominence in the middle part of the 2010s with his rhythmic electronic Afro-house tracks. Through hit singles like 2013's "Easy to Love" featuring Bucie, and 2017's "Inde," he built an international audience for his ongoing series of Respect the Drumboss albums.
Born Mkhululi Siqula in Port Elizabeth, he literally stumbled into a recording session as a teenager while running an errand to a friend's house. He was entranced and soon began to teach himself to produce music, DJ, and write songs. Early in his career, Heavy K was mentored by veteran producer Oskido, who helped him hone his skills both live and in the studio. The two collaborated on the 2013 track "Woza Nana." He made his formal debut later that year with the 2013 album, Respect the Drumboss, and subsequently scored a breakthrough hit with the standalone single "Easy to Love," which featured singer Bucie.
