There was a time when I knew Your voice

It was as real as a dollar bill

There was a time when I know Your way; it was something I could just feel

There was a time when I knew Your word, and it was always on my lips

There was a time when I knew Your will, how could I ever forget

But I fell among thorns I got caught in the weeds

I fell among thorns, now the world is choking me

There was a time when I showed your love, I would even go out of my way

There was a time when I loved my neighbor in a Samaritan kind of way

There was a time when I wanted to give with never a thought to take

There was a time when learning to live meant dying to my selfish ways
