The Crossroads

Down the dusty haunted highway I stagger with my load

No folk around to help me on this God forsaken road

Somewhere in the distance a raven calls my name

He’s circling the crossroads, waiting to play his game

His voice is clear as sapphire, his wing as black as night

His beak is sharp and shiny, ‘tis a fearful looking sight

Sat perched upon that wooden post he peers into my soul

I ask to pass the crossroads but the Dark One has control

Dawn is nearly breaking, the Sun will ease my fears

I remember she who loved me, who wiped away my tears
