Huawei Unveils Mate 50 RS Porsche Design Edition

Huawei held a launch event today in China where they unveiled Mate 50 series. The Mate 50 series comprises of the base model Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, Mate 50e and a special edition Mate 50 RS Porsche Design edition.

The Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche Design edition features a 6.74-inch OLED display that supports an FHD+ resolution of 2612 x 1212 pixels, up to 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The display notch houses the complex sensors for 3D face recognition.
The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset with support for 4G connectivity (the device couldn't use 5G connection because of US ban) paired with 12GB and 512GB internal storage.
Software wise, the device comes pre-installed with HarmonyOS 3.0, and Huawei confirmed that the device offer for support satellite connection. This means that the device can send a message and make a call when there's no network coverage.
For photography, the Mate 50 RS Porsche Design edition rear offers a triple camera set-up comprises of a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor with OIS, accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP 35x tele macro camera with support for OIS. The front utilise a 13MP sensor for selfie and video, the sensor also come along with a 3D depth sensor for face unlock. The device comes with Huawei’s XMAGE image processing technology, which offer more customisation for photos and great photos taking and pictures processing techniques.
The device is powered by a 4,700mAh battery capacity that offer supports for 66W wired fast charging and up to 50W wireless fast charging.
The Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche Design edition is available for a price tag of ¥12,999 Yuan ($1,868) for 12GB/512GB storage variant only. It is available for purchased in Blue and Purple options with ceramic back.
Huawei has yet to reveal when the device will be made available for global markets.
