The Queen of Rap, Nicki Minaj will be MTV’s 2022 recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard.The prestigious award celebrates artists and videographers for their "outstanding contributions" and "profound impact" on music video and popular culture.
Nicki will join the elite list of music icons who have received the award including Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, Rihanna and more.
Nicki will be gracing the VMAs stage to perform a medley of her iconic hits before being presented to the special award
Nicki is a 17 time MTV VMA video nominee and a 5 time winner. Her latest win was for Hot Girl Summer with Megan Thee Stallion in the Best Power Anthem Category and she’s up for Best Hiphop Video for Do We Have A Problem featuringLil Baby at 2022’s ceremony.
In a recent press rleease, President of Music at Paramount+ , Bruce Gillmer said: “Nicki has broken barriers for women in hip-hop with her versatility and creative artistry. She has shifted the music industry and cemented her status as a global superstar with her crossover appeal, genre-defying style and continuing to be unapologetically Nicki.”
The 2022 MTV VMA Awards will be live on Sunday, August 28 at 8PM EST from Prudential Center in New Jersey.
