My Favorite Hip Hop Releases This Week

The week ending 6th August has been an eventful one with some of my favorite artists releasing new music, here are some of the projects/ songs I feel you should add to your music library asap;
Eminem – Curtain Call 2
Eminem’s greatest hits compilation wasn’t enough to hold his extensive catalogue of hit records hence a sequel to Curtain Call being released this Friday 5th August 2022.
Curtain Call comes 17 years after the prequel titled Curtain Call: The Hits in 2005 which featured iconic hits such as the Oscar award winning Lose Yourself.
Expect some of Eminems recently released hits such as singles “The King & I” featuring CeeLo, “From The D To The LBC” with Snoop Dogg and the previously unreleased 2009 collaboration with 50 Cent and Dr. Dre titled “Is This Love.”

DJ Khaled, Drake and Lil Baby – Staying Alive
DJ Khaled has shared the lead single to his forthcoming album God Did set for release this August 26th 2022. The single titled “Staying Alive,” ropes in Drake and Lil Baby who are both staple collaboraters.
As much as Staying Alive has a melodic hook from Drake, the production feels lazy and predictable with no high or lows just a mid instrumental. Love the song’s victorious and anthemic vibe but I can guarantee you this song will be forgotten by next month I’ll still be streaming though.

STAYING ALIVE ft. Drake & Lil Baby
NBA YoungBoy – The Last Slimeto
The prolific NBA Youngboy stays cooking in the studio and he has dished his fans with a new ablum titled The Last Silento
And it appears the Baton Rouge native is on his way to yet another definitive win with the release of his new album, The Last Slimeto, which is embedded with 30-songs and features from Quavo, Rod Wave and Kehlani.
The Last Slimeto
Bobby Shmurda – Bodboy
Bobby Shmurda is hitting the ground running after serving a six year sentence in prison, releasing back to back singles and now a new project titled Bodboy.
The nine track EP is a teaser to his forthcoming debut album titled Ready To Live set for release this October featuring guest appearances from Meek Mill, DaBaby, 42 Dugg, Rowdy Rebel, Key Glock and more.
Bodboy
Doechii – She / Her / Black Bitch EP
One of the most promising rappers to watch, a 2022 XXL Freshman, Doechii releases her first major label debut with her ‘She/ Her/ Black Bitch EP’ The project features collaborations with SZA, Rico Nasty and Jst Ray.
If you haven’t already you should definitely listen to her fast rising viral tiktok hit Persuasive which also has a SZA remix. Doechii is a breath of fresh air in the music industry with her music style borrowing from the early 2000s aesthetic with a modern twist.
On the EP, Doechii is experimental and bold with her sound, clever with her bars, meticulous with her flow and highly entertaining with her multiple alter egos.
