The Walking Dead spin-off Tales of the Walking Dead has given fans a sneak peek at its characters, including a familiar face.
The upcoming anthological series will focus on new and established survivors within the universe of the main show.
Created by former TWD showrunner Scott M Gimple and Channing Powell, Tales of the Walking Dead also stars X-Men: Apocalypse's Olivia Munn as well as Brooklyn Nine-Nine protagonist Terry Crews. The two actors feature together in their own episode as Evie and Joe respectively.
Judging by the short clip released on the show's social media, it looks like at least some of the six one-hour chapters will have a more humorous tone for a series that's set in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, that is compared to TWD.
At one point in the video, Crews's Joe can be seen laughing hysterically as he holds an adorable baby lamb, while in another scene he and Munn's Evie have a sarcastic exchange as a walker is on the ground but don't worry, the lamb is very much still alive.
Tales will also bring back OG character Dee aka Alpha (Samantha Morton), the leader of the Whisperers introduced in season nine of The Walking Dead.
Timeline-wise, it seems that the spin-off will be set in different stages of the apocalypse, and even before that.
The episode starring Parker Posey and Jillian Bell as Brenda and Gina will transport viewers to more mundane days given the two friends appear to be in an office kitchen.
The cast of Tales also includes Jurassic World's Daniella Pineda, ER's Anthony Edwards and Matilda's Embeth Davidtz, as well as Poppy Liu, Danny Ramirez and Jessie T Usher, among others.
Tales of the Walking Dead premieres on AMC in the US on August 14.
