Man United are readying a new and final effort to land top target Ruben Neves. The Wolves star is rated highly by the incoming manager Erik ten Hag, with the Red Devils ready to make one final bid in their hopes of snapping up the midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Portugal international has been on Man United’s radar for a long time. They had previously tried to add Neves by launching a £35m bid. But it was swiftly rejected by Wolverhampton, who are reportedly holding out for a fee of nearly £50m, despite Ruben only having two years remaining on his deal.
A defensive midfielder by trade, the 25-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of the best number sixes in the PL. During his five years at Wolverhampton, the Portuguese midfielder has made a solid impression with his passing range and the ability to anchor the midfield.
The signing of Ruben Neves, therefore, could go a long way in helping the Red Devils improve their ranks in the middle of the park. But as mentioned earlier, luring him away from Wolves could be tricky, with the club holding out for nearly £50m as they look to make a significant profit out of their prized asset.
At Theatre of Dreams, the Portuguese midfielder is likely to be considered as a direct replacement for Matic. However, judging from their early proposal of £35m, Wolverhampton will undoubtedly be hoping for a figure of nearly £40-45m.
