Mr Morale & The Big Steppers By Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar released his highly anticipated fifth studio album, Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers ending a five year hiatus since the Pulitzer winning Damn.
Mr Morale and the big steppers received widespread critical acclaim and was equally a commercial success debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 295,000 units sold first week, the largest opening week at the time and highest selling rap album this year.
I personally enjoyed the album, the lyricism which explored themes such as childhood and generational trauma, infidelity, accountability, therapy, religion, gender identity and fatherhood is the depth and consciousness that we had been craving in rap delivered to the upmost prowess.
Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers is one of his most erudite and personal testaments yet, a double album fuelled by sonic ambition and Kendrick's unwavering and astute penmanship.

Come Home The Kids Miss You by Jack Harlow
Although Jack Harlow’s Come Home the Kids Miss You was a crititcal failure receiving negative reviews from top publications, it performed moderately well commercially moving 113,000 units first week debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200.
I’m not gonna defend Jack’s mundane personality that was subdued in the certified loverboy aesthetic ripped off from Jack’s idol Drake eminent through the LP.
Come Home The Kids miss you is a misstep from a critical point of view but commercially it was the perfect strategic move to keep Jack’s momentum going after his colossal Fergie sampling hit titled First Class.
Hate aside this album has some impressive moments like on the charismatic Dua Lipa single which is a trap banger delivered with eminent confidence and an irresistible diction. Churchhill downs with Drake and Movie Star with Pharrel are the other bops on the album that have a permanent residency on my hiphop playlists.

Harry’s House by Harry Styles
The highest selling album released this year with an impressive 521,000 units, Harry’s House is a strong contender not only to top several year end lists but for winning the coveted Album of the Year Grammy.
Harry’s House takes one on a magical ride of lively instrumentation reminiscent of 80s synth pop whose melodies pitch camp in one’s head until you know its every nook and cranny in minute detail.
Although Harry’s house lacks the colossal hits its predecessor Fine Line had, it’s a better record as it demonstrates growth and confidence in Harry’s artistry as clearly defined throughout the 13 tracks.
The album is refined, intimately written and sturdily produced.

Un Verano Sin Ti by Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny’s surprise album titled Un Verano Sin Ti will go down as one of the highest selling and critically acclaimed records of 2022.
The album had the largest streaming week ever for a Latin album, the biggest streaming week of 2022 for any album of any genre, and the biggest streaming week for any album since Drake’s Certified Lover Boy.
David Crone a writer for the publication All Music perfectly described the album saying ‘’Un Verano is not only a seasonal statement-piece but a testament to Benito's singular songwriting -- across genres, generations, and even languages, he works to produce enduring landmarks that trace universal joys, sorrows, and passions’’
I might not understand Spanish but I felt the vibes and bopped to this album through and through.

I Used to Think I Could Fly by Tate Mcrae
Tate Mcrae released her debut album titled I Used To Think I Could Fly which serves as a solid foundation for the ansty popstar’s career. The album is raw, vulnerable and mature often feeling like a perusal through Tate’s diary.
I Used to Think I Could Fly might not be as popular as offerings from Billie or Olivia but it packs the same punch as that of her peers containing magnificent signles like she’s all I wanna be that would easily be the best song in each of their discographies respectively.
