Infinix Note 12 VIP is the latest smartphone from Infinix, the device is the premium option of the recently released Infinix Note 12 series. The device packs much specs than other device in the lineup.
Design & Build
The Infinix Note 12 VIP has adopted the build quality and design reminiscent of the Infinix Zero X series of last year. The device robust design enable it to stand on it own without support.
The back of the device is flat and build of textured fiber glass which is smudge resistant and has a nice feel to it. The device rear camera bump spans across the top of the device and has a glossy finish which can smudges, the camera and flash is to the left while the VIP branding is the on the right bottom of the camera bump.
The device rear back is made from aerospace fiber glass reinforce plastic and can sustain scratch mark. The front glass is not a Corning gorillla glass.
The device has a slim design of 7.89mm and is lighter than its predecessor at 198g that's about 10g lighter than Note 11 Pro.
Display and Multimedia
For its display, the device sports a 6.7 inches AMOLED screen with 1080×2460 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz rating and a 360Hz touch sampling rate which is good for a responsive operation and scrolling within the UI. And 393 ppi density. The device offfers a 93.1 screen to body ratio.
And as expected for AMOLED display you can get an Always-on Display, the screen get brights enough for outdoor use.
Specs and Performance
Infinix powered this device with a MediaTek Helio G96 chipset paired with an 8GB of RAM on board, and the RAM can be extended for up to 5GB to makes it 13GB of RAM. For internal storage, the device 256GB and can be increased via SD card slot to up 2TB.
The device can handle pretty much do any task you want.
The Helio G chipsets are know for their gaming efficiency, and can play some of the most game at a medium settings.
So, if you're a gamer, this device can pretty much satisfy you and can run almost all the newly released and old game available for Android OS.
Camera
The device offer a triple camera setup with a 108MP Cinematic main sensor with PDAF and F/1.75, 13MP ultra wide camera and an 8MP depth sensor and a selfie camera of 16MP.
The camera is pretty good in standard lighting condition with good HDR. The photo appears sharp, and the results is prettier satisfied. Although, it can struggle in less ideal lighting condition (as with many other smartphone camera) and it works well for pretty much of the time.
The night mode features does a great job when you take a pics at night. The ultra wide camera as also serva as macro photography and you'll get a good shot.
For selfie, the front camera can get a good and details shot.
The device can shoot a video at no more than 2K 30fps from both camera. There's no 4K video recording and there is no optical image stabilisation.
Battery Life and Charging
The Infinix Note 12 VIP is powered by a 4,500mAh battery capacity with a support for a 120W hyper charge technolog. Infinix said it can charge the device from 0% to 100% in 17 minutes.
When tested by user, it can top up from 0% to 100% in 21 minutes which is still great and can be improved during continuous usage. When fully charge, the device can survive a day usage.
And according to Infinix, charging this device is also saved as it is equipped 103 protection features and there are 18 temperature sensor in the device.
The fast charging capabilities doesn't have an effect on the battery health, you'll have to charge this device for 800 times which is two years, two month and ten days before the battery health reduce from 100%.
Software and Connectivity
The device runs on Google's Android 12 OS coupled with Infinix custom XOS 10.6 UI that works great and offer smooth experience. Navigating user interface is fluid and there is no trouble when switching between apps.
For connectivity, the device comes with modern connectivity features such as WiFi, dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, 4G connectivity.
Pricing
The device is available at a price tag of #199,900 and it comes in Cayenne Grey and Force Black Colour options.
Conclusion
The Infinix Note 12 VIP brings decent performance to the table for a budget price.
I love its box design, it is light and easy to use. Its offer an impressive design and offer a premium looks.
The price is on the bright side, the camera is good and consistent, the chipset can handle pretty day to day task. The interface of the device is great.
Infinix also trys with the camera of this device with 108MP camera that's consistent in day to day activities. The battery is great, and can take you for a day, the fast charging is good taking in the unstable light condition in Nigeria.
The price of this device is great deal when compare with other device from other manufacturer in the same category.
