Halo Season 2: Everything You Need To Know.

Production on Halo season 2 is due to start in the summer of 2022, but when will Paramount+ release the show - and can it recover from its controversy?
Halo Season 2: Everything You Need To Know. This article contains spoilers for Halo season 1.

Paramount+ has already confirmed Halo season 2, but there may be a major change in direction under new showrunner David Wiener. Halo: Combat Evolved released in 2001, and it's widely seen as one of the best first-person shooters of all time. For all that's the case, though, it has taken over 20 years for the game to be recreated as a live-action TV series, starring Pablo Schreiber as the Master Chief.

Halo season 1 left many viewers surprised in that it clearly positioned itself as more of a prologue to the main event rather than the main event itself. It set up the quest to discover the Halo Ring, an ancient artifact that could potentially destroy all life in the galaxy, but it didn't introduce the Halo Ring itself, except in a series of visions. What's more, the show drew as much upon the Halo franchise's wider lore, established in tie-in books and comics, as it did on the games themselves; that led to an Insurrectionist B-plot on the planet Madrigaal and an arc that still hasn't been woven into the main story.

Halo season 2 will, no doubt, continue the build-up to the discovery of the Halo Ring. The first season has received a mixed reception, with several narrative decisions proving somewhat controversial - not least the curious choice to give the Master Chief a lover. As a result, it's likely Halo season 2 will be something of a course correction. Here's everything known about the show so far.

Halo Has Already Been Renewed For Season 2.
Halo Season 2: Everything You Need To Know. Paramount+ ordered Halo season 2 a month before the season 1 premiere, and production is scheduled to begin in the summer. Season 1 was marked with behind-the-scenes drama, with showrunner Kyle Killen departing partway through production. Steven Kane took over and completed the show, but he too left after post-production, reportedly to spend time with his family. David Wiener (Homecoming, The Killing, Brave New World) is set as showrunner for Halo season 2.

Halo Season 2 Story Setup Explained.
Halo Season 2: Everything You Need To Know. The Halo season 1 finale wrapped up its Makee subplot, with the Covenant's Blessed One killed during a battle on the planet Aspero. The Spartans successfully recovered the Keystones intended to guide them to the Halo Ring, but unfortunately, they paid a terrible price to do so; they were all badly wounded, and Cortana was forced to fulfill her design and take full control of the Master Chief's body. Halo season 2 will need to find a way to separate Cortana and the Master Chief, not least because he is the only one who can activate the Keystones after Makee's death. Meanwhile, Dr. Catherine Halsey has escaped justice and is pursuing her own agenda, convinced the mysterious Halo Rings will secure the future of human transcendence. Halo season 2 will also need to find a way to justify the show's Insurrectionist subplot on Madrigaal, which was a major part of season 1 and yet didn't even feature in the finale.

Halo Season 2 Release Date Prediction.
Halo Season 2: Everything You Need To Know. It's difficult to predict a precise release date for Halo season 2; it will largely depend on production, and season 1's was so disrupted it doesn't really set a precedent. It's likely Halo season 2 will air sometime next year, possibly around the same time of year, if Paramount+ is pleased with the slot. Hopefully, there will be news once production has begun.

Can Halo Season 2 Address The Show's Controversies?
Halo Season 2: Everything You Need To Know. The Halo TV series has been extremely controversial, and new showrunner David Wiener will likely want to conduct a course correction for Halo season 2. Hopefully, he will be able to address the major criticisms by moving the Master Chief's character a little closer to the one seen in the games and featuring more of the iconic action the franchise is most associated with. Teases of significant events such as the Fall of Reach and the discovery of the Halo Ring may well be enough to draw viewers back for Halo season 2.
