The Catch Up: Yvan Buravan Talks About His Latest Album 'Twaje'
By: Noah Okello
The latest episode of 'The Catch Up' features Rwandan Afro-RnB, Pop & Soul singer and songwriter Yvan Buravan.
Yvan joins us to talk about his latest album titled 'Twaje'.
'Twaje' comes from a Kinyarwanda word that can loosely be translated to “We came”. The mission of the album is to boost people’s lives innovatively and creatively through fun entertainment, inspirational content, storytelling, and self-expression art from the Rwandan culture.
Twaje is Yvan Buravan’s second album and it’s made up of 10 uniquely composed tracks. The themes addressed in the album vary from poetic love songs to songs that are a wakeup call to this generation. In particular, the album is a call to self-love, acceptance and from those two, an initiative to make a change in your society.
The album intends to be a full revelation of who Yvan Buravan truly is to his audience locally, but also to be a global introduction of a new vibe of music that comes from a fusion of the Kinyarwanda traditional music (a style that is unique to the East African region and the Continent at large) and the other styles he is usually known for (RnB, Soul and Afro-pop).
The album is sung in four languages as he always does to communicate to his worldwide audience. This album was worked on by different talented artists.
Watch our interview with Yvan below to learn more about him and his music.
