LATTO 777 ALBUM REVIEW
The album was preceeded by the top 20 hit that has been dominating airwaves, Big Energy, which samples Mariah Carey’s Fantasy, an earworm feel good summer anthem that radiates nothing but good vibes.
Wheelie featuring 21 Savage was the second single and one of my personal favorites by Latto, this beat goes so hard one can’t help but put a stank face when it plays on speakers or headphones.
Latto delivers a memorable catchy hook that is about to dominate your tiktok for you page in the coming days. 21 Savage’s verse wasn’t my favorite, I’ve had him sound better where he wasn’t fighting the beat, but that’s just me being bias cause I feel Cardi would have been a better pick for this song.
On my initial listen the track that stood out most to me was ‘It’s Givin’ a certified banger that will soon be inescapable on Instagram stories. The affirmations on the song is a confidence boost we all need once in a while with quotable lyrics like ‘It's givin' boss bitch (Boss bitch), It's givin' bad bitch (Bad bitch) ,Never ever play me like I'm average (Like I'm average, the fuck?)’ Latto really slides on the jetson beat with so much swagger and boldness sipping through to the listeners as you can’t help but smile or dance halfway through this hit. On stepper and soufside Latto proves she’s an A1 rapper unleashing back to back bars on speedy high tempo trap beats without losing a breath. Shout out to Nardo Wick for his killer verse on stepper he really matched Latto’s energy going toe to toe with her as they affirm their dominance as steppers.
Latto was washed by her guest features on some of the tracks like Sunshine with Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino where she took a step back to sing on the chorus with her lackluster vocals. (sorry not sorry) Weezy keeps cementing his To 5 G.O.A.T status with an impressive run of features like this one.
Like A Thug has such a groovy melody that Latto’s singing actually sounds decent, Lil Durk, came through with a nasty eargasmic verse elevating this song even further.
Overall 777 Album is worth your time. Latto’s growth as an arsist is undeniable on this record as her bars got wittier, she experiments more with 80s sounds and is more confident in her capabilities as a rapper hence the approval from legendary artsits like Childish Gambino and Lil Wayne. Giving the 777 Album a 78/100 rating, such a good foundation for Latto to build her artistry on can’t wait to hear more from the Queen of Da Souf.
