10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)

When it comes to animated movies, you will struggle to find a more reliable company than Pixar at producing fantastic films, with the company having an amazing track record after creating the likes of Toy Story and Up. However, even the greatest have a few slip-ups every now and then. When you have a growing library of films, not all of them are going to be able to hold to the same standard as the rest, and that is the case with Pixar as well.

That's right, even the mighty Pixar has made a few mediocre movies throughout its history. Within this list, we will look at the ten worst, according to Rotten Tomatoes, which will show that even some of Pixar's lowest-rated films are still amazing.

10
Wall-E (95%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
The fact that a movie with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 95% has made this list should show you just how impressive Pixar's track record is, with the company having created some of the greatest animated movies of all time, Wall-E included.

Despite the fact it makes this list, Wall-E is anything but a bad movie, hence the incredibly high rating that it has been given. It's easy to see why this is often called one of Pixar's most beautiful movies, especially since it focuses heavily on animated expressions since Wall-e doesn't talk very much. The movie has a fantastic soundtrack and packs an important message to the world about how crucial it is we take care of it.

9
Finding Dory (94%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
Next up on this list is another movie with an incredibly high Rotten Tomatoes score that really shouldn't be classed as a 'bad movie,': Finding Dory. Because of how popular the original was, this movie had a huge amount to live up to, and thankfully, it does.

Pixar crafted yet another breathtaking film that is action-packed, full of emotion, and has some of the best animation you will ever see. Focusing on Dory this time as she tries to find her parents, the movie does a great balance of introducing new characters, while not forgetting what made the original so popular.

8
Incredibles 2 (94%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
Another Pixar movie that was a follow-up was Incredibles 2, which is a film that fans had been begging for ever since the original came out. Thankfully this didn't disappoint, hence the impressive 94% rating.

Much like Finding Dory, this sequel kept the same things people loved about the original, from the superhero action and family dynamics to bringing back popular characters such as Frozone and Edna Mode, all while adding new elements to make it fresh. This film focuses heavily on Mrs. Incredible, while Mr. Incredible is forced to step-up as a father and be the hero at home in what is a very fun dynamic shift.

7
A Bugs Life (92%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
As one of Pixar's original movies, A Bugs Life is certainly a classic, and with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%, it is clearly one of the greatest animation films of all time, with the story and animation still holding up to this day.

This is just a good, fun movie to watch that has one of Pixar's greatest villains: Hopper. He is genuinely scary, while also having one of the best heroes in Flik, with a strong story and a great cast of supporting characters to help things develop. It is a perfect underdog story that will lighten any mood, as a good animated family-friendly film should, with a perfect balance between humor and emotions.

6
Monsters University (80%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
Another example of how Pixar's decisions to revisit some of its most popular movies with sequels and in this case, a prequel, hasn't always worked out for the company. Monsters University only scored 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, which for some might be amazing, but for Pixar, it is a little underwhelming.

This movie takes us all the way back to the beginning of Mike and Sully's friendship from their time at college, revealing that they weren't actually always the best of friends. In fact, the mismatched monsters disliked each other when they first met. While Monsters University is full of great gags, fantastic characters, and the charm you would expect from a Pixar film, it fails to live up to the incredibly high bar set by the original.

5
Brave (78%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
Brave is Pixar's first venture into the world of princess movies. While it might not be a classic like some of Disney's princess films, this movie gains far more criticism than it deserves, with Brave essentially being a mother and daughter tale. Merida is a warrior princess who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. That is an important message which was appreciated by most, despite the 77% rating it has received by Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie criticized for the fact it didn't let Merida explore and adventure enough, with the mystical bear-related story not hitting the mark for everyone, despite Pixar's best efforts.

4
The Good Dinosaur (76%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
Next up on the list is The Good Dinosaur, which was released in 2015 and earned a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 76%, which is a fair score for a movie, but isn't great. There are many positives about The Good Dinosaur, from the incredible animation to the heartwarming story that is told. However, this doesn't ever reach the heights of a great Pixar film like Coco, or Toy Story.

Instead, it felt very much like a children's movie rather than something for everyone. Many of the characters that are part of the film feel underdeveloped, with more focus seemingly being placed on the beautiful scenery than making the movie itself as good as it could be.

3
Cars (75%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
Cars is one of the most divisive movies in the Pixar library, as many people absolutely love it for its charm, humor, and fun story. Others simply felt that the movie lacked the Pixar magic that many of its other films have.

While this movie ended up being one of the most successful in terms of toy sales, as a film, it does feel like something is just missing. Even though it has the jokes, a loveable lead character, and a fun sidekick, there is something that is out of place. The lack of a real, meaningful villain doesn't help things, and Lightning McQueen starting out the movie as arrogant also stops this from being seen as a classic.

2
Cars 3 (69%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
The Cars franchise strikes again with Cars 3 being next on the list with a rating of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is the final installment of the franchise, which once again focuses on the racing world, rather than the spy content that the second movie provided. The story in Cars 3 was actually an interesting one.

If you were invested in Lightning Mcqueen, then it is one that will have you hooked as the legendary racer realizes that he is being pushed aside by a new generation of racers that he can't compete with. Cars 3 tried its best to provide an exciting storyline, but it suffered from the fact that fans were simply burnt out from this world. Many fans wanted to see Pixar return to creating newer content, rather than repeating itself.

1
Cars 2 (39%)
10 Worst Pixar Movies (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
Well, it is clear that Rotten Tomatoes doesn't appreciate the Cars franchise, with all three movies making up the top three spots for the worst films that Pixar has ever created. No amount of toy sales is going to make these films any better. Cars 2 has been rated as the worst movie in Pixar's library, with an inferior score of 39%.

While the movie is still a lot of fun and will entertain children, it does lack the story and emotions that Pixar films are known for. The main issue with this movie is that Pixar essentially made Mater the main character, spending too much time on a character that was comic relief and a sidekick in the original.
