No Way Home Gag Reel Shows Holland, Maguire & Garfield Having Fun On Set
A teaser of Spider-Man: No Way Home's gag reel shows stars Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield having a blast together on set. The film was a massive hit, earning $1.877 billion globally. No Way Home surpassed Avatar at the domestic box office, becoming the third-highest grossing movie in the U.S., trailing only Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. No Way Home's performance was noteworthy for revitalizing theater attendance amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The third solo entry for Holland's iteration of Spider-Man finds his webslinger outed and Peter Parker publicly reviled. In an attempt to correct things, Peter enlists the help of Doctor Strange, who casts a spell to make the world forget Peter is Spider-Man. The spell goes awry, opening the prime MCU timeline to the multiverse. Characters from Sony's previous Spider-Man film franchises had key roles, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their iterations of Peter. Though Holland was nervous to meet his predecessors, he wanted Maguire in Garfield in No Way Home as much as possible. It's clear why, as the three past and present Peter Parkers had an undeniable chemistry that was a highlight for viewers to watch.
Snippets of their time on set can be seen in this teaser for No Way Home's gag reel, released courtesy of Sony Pictures. Some delightful moments include Tom Holland going askew while upside down on wires during his bridge fight with Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, and Garfield and Maguire sharing a brotherly hug. The gag reel will also be able to be watched in its entirety when the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases on April 12, or available now if purchased digitally. The teaser is below:

It's easy to see why their connection came across so clearly in the film. By all accounts, including this teaser, the three had as much fun together offscreen as on. Between re-enacting the famous Spider-Man pointing meme, and Holland spreading the rumor that one of them wore a fake butt on set, (prompting Garfield to say the now immortal phrases, "I don't know. I assumed everyone's butts were their butts," and, "Tobey's got back"), watching their friendship grow has been a joy for many MCU fans.
For viewers not sated by the amount of screen time shared between the three, there will also be an additional 20 minutes of Garfield and Maguire included on the Blu-ray. It's unclear as to whether this will mean an extra 20 minutes of deleted scenes, or whether it'll be behind-the-scenes interviews. Regardless of what it is, being able to watch any amount of these three goofing off together should prove to be a delight. Besides the ease of chemistry they display, Maguire and Garfield brought a level of pathos and history to their returning heroes, while never detracting from Holland's story, that still felt like they gave a great level of closure to their own franchises and made the Spider-Man: No Way Home not only fun to watch, but something truly special.
