Wolfsburg replaced the logo on the front of their shirts from sponsors Volkswagen to a Peace sign.
The gesture is in support of Ukraine amid the country’s invasion by Russia, which has brought widespread condemnation from all quarters of society.
Across sport, many sanctions have been imposed on Russia with UEFA stripping the country of the Champions League final, and Formula 1 announcing that they will not be racing in Sochi this season.
With conflict still occurring in Ukraine, there has been a lot of support across the world, which was on exhibit again in football over the weekend.
Bundesliga side Wolfsburg’s brilliant gesture saw them put the Peace symbol on the front of their jersey instead of the Volkswagen logo in their home match against Union Berlin.
It was also a perfect day for the hosts in terms of results as they won the game 1-0.
Similar scenes were produced at Premier League games, with fans, players and all clubs showing solidarity towards Ukraine.
On screen at grounds across the league, the message ‘Football Stands Together’ was displayed.
