Luka Modric: A lifetime at Real Madrid by popular demand

Luka Modric has earned his place in the hearts of everyone at Real Madrid. Only a few players have managed to do so through football, character and commitment, but the Croatian is definitely one of them.

At the end of the Madrid derby win on Sunday, the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu rose to applaud the midfielder, who is still asking for a renewed contract at the club.

As MARCA has already reported, Real Madrid intend to offer Modric a new deal. He's happy in Madrid and at the club, he's feeling better than ever, and he knows his body and how much longer he can continue playing.

Real Madrid's higher-ups are delighted with him too, and with his way of understanding his commitment to the club. They are obviously aware of his age, but his performances on the pitch and behaviour at Valdebebas carries more weight.

Soon, his renewal will be finalised and Modric will remain at the club until June 30, 2023.

Another masterclass

Against Atletico Madrid, Modric put on another show for Real Madrid. He set the pace of the came and his opponents couldn't get close to him.

Los Blancos' first goal came as a result of him winning the ball back before it passed through Casemiro, Marco Asensio, Vinicius Junior and then Karim Benzema.
