WHICH STARS CAN HURT CRANES?
Here are the four players who have the potential to trouble their neighbours during this week’s Group E qualifier in Kampala.
ERIC OUMA
The 25-year-old is currently enjoying his game with Swedish club AIK Fotboll and in their last top-flight fixture; he provided an assist for the second goal as they beat Ostersund 3-0.
The former Gor Mahia player can score goals and create chances for the strikers and his lightning speed when in possession with the ball and from both wings will surely be a tough task for the Cranes.
JOHNSTONE OMURWA
In the absence of Simba SC defender Joash Onyango, Daniel Sakari of Tusker and Brian Mandela of Mamelodi Sundowns, Wazito FC defender Johnstone Omurwa will get a chance to marshall the back-four.
The 23-year-old has the ability to build the game from the back and has an eye for a long pass. He is also lethal in the air and can score from set-pieces.
ANTHONY AKUMU
The return of Akumu to the national team will be good news for coach Firat, who is having injury concerns with Azam FC midfielder Kenneth Muguna and Richard Odada of Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.
The 29-year-old former Gor Mahia star, who turns out for Kaizer Chiefs in the PSL, has the experience to lead the side against the Cranes and his defence-splitting passes will be key to help Olunga get goals.
MICHAEL OLUNGA
The lanky striker will lead the attack once again and will be seeking to get his second goal in this campaign, having scored in the 1-1 away draw against Rwanda.
Olunga has the pace and power to dribble past defenders and he also has the nose to sniff goals. This could trouble the Uganda defenders in the match dubbed ‘Migingo derby’.
