#EPL | MANCHESTER UNITED’S THREE BEST PLAYERS AGAINST ASTON VILLA
Nigeria
2
Manchester United’s slump continued with a 1-0 home defeat against ASton Villa.
Nobody was absolutely outstanding but here is a look at United’s three best players in the loss; a second consecutive home loss…
DAVID DE GEA
De Gea made a couple of big saves and also bailed out Harry Maguire from a poor first half backpass.
There wasn’t much he could have done about Kortney Hause’s winning goal, a powerful header at the near post.
He looked confident, on an afternoon where many teammates didn’t.
His leadership will be needed in the games ahead as United look to come out of this slump.
RAPHAEL VARANE
Varane was not offered a great deal of protection from the midfield in front of him.
Him and Maguire – then Victor Lindelof when he came on – had to deal with a front two of Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings, both of whom are capable of running in behind.
MASON GREENWOOD
Greenwood was probably the liveliest of United’s attackers, even if his decision making wasn’t the best.
Bruno Fernandes created ten chances, so could have been involved here if he’d netted the late penalty he had to equalise.
As it was, Greenwood was a threat throughout the game, but he couldn’t find the right angles for shots.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might ring the changes after this loss but Greenwood ought to remain in the side.
