Olamide’s “Carpe Diem” Or Davido’s “A Better Time” — Which Is More Suitable For A Grammy Nomination?

Let’s face it, the chances that either Olamide or Davido will win a Grammy Award anytime soon are very slim.

Yeah, it is quite unfair that no matter what they do, they’ll never get the international appraisal their colleagues Wizkid and Burna Boy are getting.

It’s crazy that Olamide did a whole album, ditched all the local sounds he’s been doing since whenever, but still, he can’t secure the kind of recognition Wizkid is getting – even though they’re supposed to be on the same level.

Same as Davido. “A Better Time” has all the right features, and the potential for it to become something big on the international scene was there, but it just never really got that hype it deserved.

That doesn’t take anything from them though. The albums are solid bodies of work unless we’re gonna lie to ourselves.

Both Davido and Olamide released what can be considered the best album of their careers and for what it’s worth if the Grammys know what they’re doing, these are albums they should consider.

But what if they can only pick one of the two, which one is more suitable for the Grammy’s?

Carpe Diem
Olamide’s “Carpe Diem” Or Davido’s “A Better Time” — Which Is More Suitable For A Grammy Nomination? Carpe Diem
Summer 2020, when he released “Carpe Diem,” it was clear what Olamide was going to become after that.

Carpe Diem wasn’t only his best album yet, it undoubtedly was a perfect Olamide show. It might even be impossible for him to ever top that.

“Carpe Diem” which is also his most successful album commercially is one of the best Nigerian albums we’ve had in recent times and the best ever by a rapper.

With jams like “Infinity” becoming big hits across the board, the impact of Olamide‘s album is clear for all to see.

A Better Time
Olamide’s “Carpe Diem” Or Davido’s “A Better Time” — Which Is More Suitable For A Grammy Nomination? A Better Time
“A Better Time,” which was released about six months ago, was one of the hottest releases of 2020, alongside Wizkid‘s “Made in Lagos” and Olamide‘s “Carpe Diem.”

The album, which had the hit single, “Fem” has over 200 Million Streams on the AudioMack streaming platform.

Recall that “A Better Time” was released last year to mixed reviews. While some praised Davido for sticking to the core of his sound, others bashed the album for not having a coherent sound.

Meanwhile, none of that has stopped the album from being one of the most commercially successful, in recent times.

Now back to the initial question.
