Previously on #BuzzBlast, we took a minute to honour queen Nicki on the much she has done for the hip hop industry as a female artist and realized how many of her fans had waited on that moment! Flowers are important to our outstanding artists especially, as they are still alive. But that's not all that the article brought out. For the longest time, there has been a comparison of artists, on who is better than the other in terms of art and Nicki has been in the centre of the conversation. First, she was pit against Lil Kim (the original queen B FYI) whom she was accused of 'stealing style' from a fact we all agree to disagree on. It could simply be that she looked up to her. And, before you start on her giving flowers to others, she has.

In 2017, to commemorate XXL's 20th anniversary, Nicki Minaj explained how she reintroduced mainstream America to female rappers. However, some of her words got misconstrued. And she took a minute to address the issue.

The Queens rapper went on Instagram to clear things up. "I see ppl remixing my words so let me post 'exactly' what I said for the intelligent ones in the back... Imagine me saying I made female rappers mainstream when there were so many women who already had platinum albums under their belts," Minaj said.

She continued by stating receipts: "Lauryn sold 10 million off one album, Eve had platinum singles w/Alicia, Gwen Stefani, her own tv show & clothing line. It doesn't get more mainstream/pop than Missy's biggest singles. Foxy & Kim had platinum albums & shaped the sound of NY female rappers, Latifah had her own sitcom, Trina was on billboard with hits."

Then, Minaj said it crystal clear: "So I 'REINTRODUCED' the 'successful' female rapper back to POP CULTURE. Showed big business we were major players in the game just like the boys were."

Clear enough? Then came the Cardi B vs Nicki Minaj comparison which, is seemingly the most heated comparison of the century to an extent of a fight between the two that happened during the 2018 New York Fashion week that left Cardi with a lump on her head! (It got to that level) Thanks to the fans of both artists who kept fueling the beef and still do up to date. I mean to some point without, mentioning her name, Cardi gives props to a female artist "who dominated for a very long time and she did pretty good ...and still is"! Sounds familiar? Without looking too much into it, we cannot ignore that somehow, Cardi's words act as a white flag. Signalling peace which their fanbase (Barbz and Bardies) is still not about to agree on. So then who, between the two, is a better artist?

As mentioned earlier, Nicki 43, reintroduced the era of female rap. She practically carried its weight on her shoulders paving, the way to the current generation of dope female acts that have taken the world by storm and shinning at it in 2004, as she made her entry to the music scene.

Her first mix-tape was released in 2007 and soon after, in 2008, her second mix-tape was published.

In 2009, Nicki Minaj's big break came when Lil Wayne offered her a contract with his company Young Money Entertainment. Minaj was featured in multiple songs with other Young Money artists.

Minaj's debut album titled Pink Friday was released in 2010 that ultimately sold over 375,000 copies in its first week.

She gained exposure and became one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all time. In her lifetime, she has worked with some of the greatest artists we know and admire: Drake, DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Birdman, Meek Mill, Eminem, Rihanna Will.i.am and Kanye who, outright termed Nicki as an artist with the potential to become the second-best rapper with Eminem as his first. (Yes, he said that!)

Four successful albums later, Nicki Minaj has been certified platinum several times, won many awards and, broken history records. She is the perfect definition of a super female artist.

Switching to Cardi B, 27, she began her career in 2015, where she joined the cast of Vh1 reality T.V show, Love & Hip Hop. In 2016, she released her first mix-tape and in the same year.

In early 2017, Cardi B published her second mix-tape and soon after, signed a deal with Atlantic Records. Cardi B found her big break thanks to her videos going viral on various social media platforms.

Her song Bodak Yellow hit the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and had made her the fifth female rapper to ever lead the Hot 100.

Cardi B has since then had many number ones: broken many chart records and history and, has worked with many famous artists such as Selena Gomez, G-Easy, Bruno Mars, Bad Bunny, Maroon 5, Megan Thee Stallion, Migos, and Nicki Minaj herself. Although she has one solo album, two solo mixtapes, 29 singles and around 16 music videos, she is not the artist to underestimate.

Who is richer?

As of matters money, as of 2020, Forbes put Minaj at $100 million while Cardi was at $80 million.

For what it's worth, the sounds of these two queens has created a new era in the rap scene, paving the way for underground rappers, with a new sound.
