One of the biggest entertainment news of the day has been the announcement by electronic music stars #DaftPunk hunging their helmets.
The french duo announced their retirement in the coolest way by posting a video of their famous 2006 cult film called "Epilogue"
Their publicist confirmed the news via email to AFP as well.
Here's some background information on #DaftPunk
1. In 1993, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo formed a parisian duo “Daft Punk”, the purpose for the duo was mainly to help define the French touch style of house music.
2. In 1997 they dropped a debut album “homework” and it was a landmark to dance music.
3. They always appeared in robot outfits and this led it to being their trademark.
4. Their singles “harder, better, faster, stronger” and “one more time” plastered them as global superstars.
5. 20 years into their career in 2013, they released an album “Random Access Memories” with its lead single “Get lucky”. The track sold millions of copies around the world and won the duo and guests Nile Rodgers and Pharell Williams who both featured on the next single “lose yourself to dance”.
6. The album won them four Grammy’s including, Album of the year. #DaftPunk have 6 Grammys in total.
They showed up one more time for the Grammies in 2017.
7. In 2016 they released a single “Starboy” which was their first Billboard singles chart topper.
