Why I am Grateful for 2020

Hey Buddies!
We have 40 days to bid farewell to 2020 and by any standards it's the worst year that i have witnessed -beloved celebrities have died, we are still in the clutches of COVID19 pandemic and we are living in a continent struggling with corrupt politicians and poverty.
It really does not feel like a moment to see the glass as half full or make lemonade out of lemons.
But, we are going to try (especially me, you should too!). Here are some cool things that happened, simply because 2020 happened.
1. Wearing sweatpants and tees became acceptable fashion choices all day, every day (phew!). It could be because most people now work from home, or unfortunately are out of work. Either way, i love the comfort of a tee and those jeans.
2. Some of us put on some weight but hey, curves are the 'in' thing!
3. We re-discovered reading and managed to educate ourselves. Do not give up this hobby please.
4. Puzzles and board games became cool again and offered a much-needed break from our screens (who would have thought?)
5. TikTok blew up and music streaming sky rocketed (I discovered Boomplay, yay!)
6. Distilleries, both small and large, used their resources to produce badly needed hand sanitizer (not just alcohol to get us drunk)
7. Crayola launched a box of crayons with diverse skin colors for children to "accurately color themselves into the world ( i'm all in for inclusiveness)
8. We learned that homeschooling is 'hard' and finally recognized teachers for the heroes that they really are.
9. Health care workers and essential workers duly became heroes.
10. Beyoncé dropped some fierce surprises, like her Juneteenth track “Black Parade” and for her visual album, "Black Is King." Believe it or not, Africa rode on her wings, or the other way round, I leave that to you.
11. Back in Africa, the land of sunshine and rain, our music giants blessed our lives with awesome music. Burna Boy gave us Twice as Tall, Olamide came through with 'Carpè Diem', Wizkid delivered on the 'Made in Lagos' promise, Davido dropped 'A better time' upon our lives, now we are jamming to Yemi Alade's 'Empress'. Boomplay brings all this joy to your ears for free. Stream all these here, just type in, tap 'Search'.
12. We had many celeb babies, my favourite is Simi's tot, because this sweet tot played "vixen" before even being born. Simi shot the "Duduke" video while heavily pregnant with baby Adejare.
13. We realized how much we love and need sports and its ability to unite us. Even if we mostly now watch from home, we are good.
14. Musicians took to social media to give us personal concerts from home, my current favourite is Wizkid's live show on Youtube, it was epic!! Look it up on Starboy TV - Youtube.
15. Weddings still happened over Zoom, and it was beautiful. Love blossomed still! Ne-Yo and wife Crystal Smith shut down a looming divorce as a result of quarantining together.
Reflect on your blessings in 2020, let them give you joy in the upcoming month of cheer -December.
One last one, I met you
Sue.
