1. A Clockwork Orange

 



Based on Anthony Burgess's 1962 novel of the same name, this 1971 cult classic takes place in a futuristic Britain, telling the story of an antisocial deviant who agrees to behavioral modification after he's jailed for a crime — though he comes to regret that decision once he realizes what the experimental conditioning technique involves.

Starring The Addams Family's Christina Ricci and — for the first time ever — a fully CGI character in a lead role, this dark 1995 take on the Harvey Comics cartoon character Casper the Friendly Ghost manages to somehow be charming and haunting at the same time.

Based on the novel of the same name by Ryu Murakami, this terrifying thriller stars Mia Wasikowska as a sadistic sex worker hired by a married man (played by Christopher Abbott) who hopes to take his murderous impulses out on her.
