1. Monica - 'Still Standing'
This is a song by American R&B singer Monica off her album, Still Standing (2010). It features her cousin and rapper Ludacris and narrates what the singer has overcome. Monica confirms that what don't kill you makes you stronger. What better way to face the hurdles that life throws at us?
Ludacris' rap is so energizing, you cannot help lip-syncing to it!

2. Drake - 'Started from The Bottom'
If Drake started at the bottom and got his whole team here so can you. He used to work all night, drive home through traffic, be hungry, live at his momma’s house.....but now he sleeps on a $400,000 Hastens mattress in a 100 million dollar house.

3. Kanye West - 'I Am A God'
This song is inspired by a diss to Kanye by a fashion designer who gave him conditions for attending the Paris Fashion Week. He responded by writing 'I am a God'. He declares never to kiss-ass. Never accept to be stepped all over. Even God created us to be gods. You are a god.

4. Kelis - 'Bossy'
Aha! No words for this one, the lyrics are enough, check out the extract:
Aye yo
You don't have to love me
You don't even have to like me
But you will respect me
You know why? 'Cause I'm a boss
Watch that thing go, uh, uh x4
I'm bossy
I'm the first girl to scream on a track
I switched up the beat of the drum
That's right I brought all the boys to the yard
And that's right, I'm the one that's tattooed on his arm
I'm bossy
I'm the one ya'll love to hate
I'm the chick that's raised the stake.....
Look up the rest of the lyrics, sing along and do the dougie! Go be a boss, you are unique.

5. The Script - 'Hall of Fame'
This is a song by Irish pop-rock band -The Script. The track features American hip-hop artist Will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas. The song is about following dreams and making an impact on the world. "Do it for your people, do it for your name, do it for your pride, dedicate yourself and you gon' find yourself sitting in the Hall of Fame!" The lyrics are amazing, look them up and preach to the champion in you.

6. Burnaboy - 'Level Up'
The grammy awards nominee teams up with Senegalese legend Youssou N'Dour to narrate his rise to stardom. He encourages the listener to shut the devil up whenever negative thoughts strike, and to try everyday to 'level up' in any aspect of our lives that may not be at their best; when you fall, come back standing twice as tall!

7. Blu Ivy, Beyoncè, Wizkid - 'Brown Skin Girl'
Queen Bey worked with Wizkid, SAINt JHN and her own daughter Blue Ivy Carter, to tell young “brown skinned” girls to be proud of their skin and embrace it.
So whenever you look in that mirror, girl know you're beautiful. 'Your skin is not only dark, it shines and tells your story'

8. Diamond Platnumz - 'Kanyaga'
Diamond preaches the gospel of ridding ourselves of all that is dragging out lives behind. The song is recorded in Kiswahili but is truly inspiring, since he himself has been in the middle of numerous scandals. The lyrics translation is as below (edited for the purpose of being precise and brief)

"He will trample on the plague of hypocrisy
Trample on it as a friend who is not a friend
Trample on it like a hyena that has the heart of a snitch
It doesn't feed, it doesn't clot, why not?
Trample on it
The elders of the shombo always cheating
Clubs that always ask for beer, Trample on those
Slay queens with counterfeit quotes
If you give it a try, the demands will be lifted!"

Buddy, free yourself from pleasing people, you may not literally trample on them, but cut yourself off from fake friends.

9. Celinè Dion & Ne-Yo - 'Incredible'
This song is versatile, it can be for lovers, but again who is your favourite love other than yourself? Make a pact with yourself to get the world describing the love for yourself as 'incredible', no matter what they dish out! Your are your most valued asset, simply incredible.....!

10. Empire Cast ft. Jussie Smollet - 'Heavy'
It's amazing to know that the character "Jamal Lyon" aka Jussie Smollet of the musical drama "Empire" is a singer in real life. Infact he co-wrote some songs for the show.
'Heavy' is featured in 'Empire's second season as a celebration of Jamal Lyon's ascent to becoming 'Empire's top artist, and the pillar for his family.
In life, we get to a point where responsibilities come our way, when this happens, "refuse to let your people down"
When you are at the top, everyone is watching and wondering "will you fail? will you succeed?" Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but you gotta wear it till victory...

11. Tatiana Manaois - 'Like You'
Released back in 2015, this song is as fresh as ever, thanks to the beautiful words that it speaks to the soul.
Tatiana teaches that you are not expected to be strong all the time, you can ask for help from somebody, no one is perfect. It is also important to stand up for yourself, because people are busy with their own lives, so if you want them to notice, show them what you gat, not what you're not.

12. Goodlyf (Radio & Weasel) - Talk and Talk
The biggest music duo from Uganda released this jam back in 2013, seven years later, one member(Radio) lost his life to injuries sustained from a bar brawl, yet he was the soul of the group. This was not before giving us the ultimate guide to the nature of haters, "they will talk but they can't do the walk. When you make your money, you drive them crazy, when they see you cry, they gon' shout Hallelujah!" So do not give them that pleasure. Fight to stay happy and on top of your game.
