The weekend is when we usually have our personal bliss, it is wise to make the most of it. Here are some ideas to help you avoid clichès and elevate your weekend from being just time away from work.
1. Plan for your Weekend
Decide during the week exactly what it is you’re aiming to do at the weekend.
Jot down your plan or save it on your phone's planner so that you know in advance what your weekend will be like.
At times you may be spontaneous but you should know what you want to get out of your weekend. If you don’t have any plans, you will often end up doing nothing!
2. Set Yourself a Challenge
Try doing something that stretches your limits, or something you fear. Do you usually hangout at the mall? Try the club this time, you just might enjoy it. Physical activities like jogging are also a healthy challenge.
3. Avoid Excessive Alcohol
The temptation when we reach Friday night is often to have a drink. However excessive drinking will ruin the next day. You’ll probably be hung-over and spend most of the day in bed -so the day will pass without you having done anything.
A little alcohol can help you to relax over the weekend, but don’t let it consume your entire time off!
4. Curve Out some ‘You’ Time
Filling your time with all sorts of activities can be great fun, but will also be tiring. You may even at some point feel drained both mentally and physically.
So, try to set some time aside for yourself, when you can indulge yourself in a book, listen to some music on Boomplay, or just chillout.
5. Catch-Up on Stuff you Missed Weekends are a good time to catch up on those things you have wanted to do but did not have the time. Make use of your weekend by getting these activities out of the way. It will make you feel a lot better, as you’ll feel as though you’ve achieved something during your weekend.
6. Put Some Things Off
There are some things that can be done at any time - not just over the weekend. So free your weekend from those mundane activities, opt for the ones that are fulfilling.
7. Avoid Routine
It's common to sometimes get stuck on a routine, because it is easier. But routines can dull your life. Try something new, something you have never done. This could be the one thing you have been missing.
