5 ways #MadeInLagos has shown Wizkid's maturity in Music
Uganda

#madeinlagos has generally been recieved positively, despite some fans getting confused along the way, due to the uniqueness of #wizkid 's 4th studio album, in relation to his previous projects.
Thanks to 'Made in Lagos', the Starboy now seats at the 'table of men' when it comes to the global music industry, here's why;
1. Breaking free from the usual up- tempo sound.
Wizkid is generally associated with up-tempo music or to put it simply -danceable music. Most songs on the starboy's latest album do not follow this style.
After years in the making, 'Made in Lagos' delivers a unique sound, away from the usual sound that fans had been accustomed to; most of them have loved it nonetheless.
2. Featuring a considerable number of other artists.
Mature musicians seek to deliver music, not their own skills. They get excited about collaboration and creating something beautiful, not just about showing off their own skills. Wizkid featured Burnaboy, Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R, Ella Mai, Tay Iwar, Projexx, TEMS and Terri (phew!).
It's amazing the work they did to make #MIL shine, and ofcourse Wizkid's brilliance in spotting what works and what does not work (for the album), to the extent of reportedly breaking some relationships.
3. Listening and adjusting to the current trends.
Prior to the release of 'Made in Lagos', Wizkid mentioned in an interview that he had changed the songs on the album several times. I suppose this was to fit what was currently trending in the industry.
Mature musicians are always listening and adjusting. They listen to what the other musicians are churning out and allow themselves to learn so as to make the best music as they can in that particular moment.
4. Improving his craft.
Wizkid once mentioned that he "makes music not just for Africa but for the world". It's undeniable that 'Made in Lagos' is indeed an album for the world.
The album has captured the attention of international markets far out of Africa such as the U.S, U.K and many European countries.
5. Supporting and encouraging other musicians.
Wizkid's success has had many good musicians and other people look up to him, he has done a lot with that power. He has helped to build others up and support them in their growth. 'Made in Lagos' features some rising stars such as Ella Mai, Projexx, Tems among others.
The Afro-beats king is also owed by several other artists for their current stardom such as Mr. Eazi, Maleek Berry, L.A.X, Terri and Ceeza Milli, some of whom are signed to his record label -Starboy Entertainment.
Wizkid has indeed grown from his debut album 'Superstar' to the latest 'Made in Lagos'.
'Made in Lagos' has currently been streamed 1.8 million times on Boomplay in less than 48 hours!
